Writer/Director Rian Johnson has been remarkably open on the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII. He's shared, and allowed others to share, pictures from the set, revealing sneak peeks that simply didn't exist for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

He's back at it Thursday with two new images on his tumblr.

"Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the microfiber sham." he wrote, accompanying two pictures of people on set buffing down set pieces - specifically an X-wing and what looks like the interior of a First Order vessel or base. Intrigue!

The director also used the picture post to announce that they're halfway through shooting the film, an exciting and surreal time for Johnson. With more than a year and a half before it comes out, that's also a pretty huge tease for Star Wars fans desperate to know more about the next chapter of Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Luke, Leia, and Poe's lives.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is filming now for a December 15, 2017 release.
