The Marvel Studios juggernaut Captain America: Civil War has hit the ground running, pulling in over $75 million on Friday according to Box Office Mojo.

Even though Captain America: Civil War fell short of the $84.4 million opening day of Avengers: Age of Ultron, the film more than doubled the opening of the previous Captain America movie. The Winter Soldier opened to $37 million back in 2014.

While that is sure to be pleasing to the studio and to the Russo's, it does mean that unless there is a huge surge on Saturday and Sunday, the film won't hit that much lauded $200 million-plus number that some had previously speculated for the film. Following the same pattern as Jurassic World, Avengers, and Captain America: Winter Solider, weekend totals would hover between $175 and $190 million on the high side.

Still, an impressive haul thus far, and I wouldn't expect it to end anytime soon.
