Japanese Poll Picks Out the Ten Ugliest Pokemon

Although most of Nintendo's 721 different types of Pokemon have a certain cute charm about them, not every Pokemon was designed as an adorable pocket sized pet. Now, thanks to a new Japanese poll, we have a definitive list of which Pokemon are the ugliest of all. Goo Ranking asked 500 Japanese men and women, ages 20-39, who they thought were the ugliest Pokemon of all.

So which Pokemon was deemed the "ugliest" by its fans? Grimer, the Sludge Pokemon, topped the list with nearly a hundred votes. Grimer's evolved form, Muk, came in second, while the fellow Poison-type Weezing came in a distant third place. Given that both Grimer and Muk are animated piles of toxic sludge, while Weezing is a fleshy bag of poison gas, it's hard not to agree with the poll's decision. All three were among the first Pokemon to appear in the Pokemon games, and both Muk and Weezing had prominent roles in the Pokemon anime series.

In addition to the top three vote getters, eight of the ten ugliest Pokemon appeared in the original Pokemon games. Jynx, Hypno, Skrelp, Exeggutor, Gloom, Magmortar and Victreebel rounded out the top ten. Other popular Pokemon who received votes included Pinsir, Magmar and Magikarp. Interestingly, one of the Pokemon who appeared on the list of ugliest Pokemon was Feebas, a water-type who evolves into the elegant and beautiful Milotec.
