Are your work meetings an endless series of repetitive statements? Do you find yourself zoning out, wishing you could, say, cast a spell or take a potion that would make the entire meeting more exciting?
Well, Tokyo's Akihabara district, famous for its vast geek-themed attractions, stores, and more, has you covered with the new Idea no Shiro (or Idea Castle) meeting rooms. Zeeboon, an IT firm in Tokyo set them up, and has now opened them up to rent out to other companies. The rooms are themed after Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland, called "Royal Palace Magic School" and "Alice's White Room" respectively.
The Harry Potter themed room includes thick brick walls, owl cages, swords, a stone throne and leather armchairs. The long tables have chairs on both sides, more closely resembling the Great Hall at Hogwarts, where they hold school-wide meetings and meals, than any other room in the famous school of magic.
The Wonderland room has illustrations and quotes along all the walls, and even on the furniture and decorations. Doors and Windows have been painted to look as if they're illustrations, helping complete the feeling of living within a storybook. The White Rabbit will, of course, tell you if you're late on a deadline or if the meeting is running too long.
Both meeting spaces sit at 1,076 square feet and run around $270 U.S. an hour (30,000 yen) to rent. They also include modern magic, like large monitors, speakers, and wifi for those who aren't practiced up on their wand use. Check out the full tours of the rooms below.
