With the release of the titles for Game of Thrones final two episodes for its sixth season, HBO also revealed that the season six finale will be extended from the usual 50 - 60 minute run time to 69 minutes.

Previously, the Game of Thrones showrunners have said that season six will play host to the largest battle of the entire series to date. Based on the titles, though, we assume that the battle will take place in the ninth episode of the season rather than the extended finale.

The finale is titled "The Winds of Winter" which is a direct nod to George R.R. Martin's still incomplete sixth novel of the A Song of Ice and Fire Saga. Both of the final two episodes are directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who was running the show for last year's shocking Hardhome episode which saw Jon Snow leading an unexpected fight against the White Walkers.

Game of Thrones is at a point where most of its story lines are beginning to wrap up. Daenerys will soon collide with Westerners, Jon Snow and Sansa Stark will attempt to take back Winterfell, and the Lannisters' plays for the Iron Throne will ultimately be tested as Margaery and Tommen's story with the High Sparrow unfolds.

We can also expect to see Arya's fate be revealed after being left in question to cap off Sunday's episode, as well as The Hound's return to King's Landing in what will likely see him take on his brother The Mountain in a trial by combat.

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on HBO.
