In 2007, Ocean's Thirteen hit theaters and wrapped up the Ocean's trilogy just over a decade ago. Since the trilogy's finale, fans have been speculating that the franchise might reboot itself, and their suspicions were confirmed when word came that a spinoff had been confirmed.

With the new film underway, reports hit that Sandra Bullock would be leading the all-female cast while Hunger Games director Gary Ross directed the project with screenwriter Olivia March who worked on Queen and Country.

Now, Showbiz 411 is reporting that the Ocean's spinoff has added more actresses like Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Banks, Helena Bonham Carter, and Mindy Kaling to the project. Unfortunately, though it was rumored that Jennifer Lawrence might join the cast, it doesn't look like she'll be added due to schedule conflicts.

The film, which is rumored to be called Ocean's Ocho, will be filming in New York early next year. According to Slashfilm, the spinoff will likely feature Sandra Bullock as the sister of George Clooney's Danny Ocean from the original Ocean's trilogy. The plot could center around the girls' plans to heist a necklace from the Met Ball. Since the newest film was announced, fans have wondered whether previous cast members like Clooney may cameo, but there has been no official word on those rumors.

With the film still in development, there is no set release date for it yet. The project, however, has been in the works for years now. Steven Soderbergh, who directed Ocean's Eleven (2001), had been working on the project with George Clooney and Jerry Weintraub before the latter passed away in 2015. Currently, Soderbergh and Clooney are attached to the new film as executive producers.

As Ocean's Eleven (2001) was a remake of the classic 1960 film starring Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra, the franchise has long thrived off its ability to adapt and relate with new, contemporary audiences. With an increasingly awesome line-up, the upcoming Ocean's spinoff seems promising as fans wait to see what king of surprises and secrets the film will hold.
