Photographer Clay Enos, the man repsonsible for most of the still photography on the Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice sets, has released a new behind-the-scenes photo showing off Batman V Superman's practical effects.

Given the amount of CG necessary to make so many of Superman's powers work, the idea of working with practical effects where possible is one that director Zack Snyder has placed a good deal of emphasis on. It has not, however, been quite as much a part of the film's production narrative as it was during Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, which wrapped up in 2012 with The Dark Knight Rises and earned more than $2 billion globally over three films.

In the image, seen above, Enos says that "big movies call for big, real effects," and Batman stands before a wall of flame.

The Batman figure in the shot, as noted in the comments on Twitter (see below), was repurposed by Warner Bros. for use in the film's IMAX movie poster, although in that shot the Dark Knight was squaring off against Superman, rather than standing alone.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.

The film is due out on digital platforms in two weeks, and is set to be released on Blu-ray and DVD on July 11. The release will include an "Ultimate Edition" of the film that runs about a half an hour longer and features deleted and extended scenes not in the theatrical cut of the movie.
