The newest Disney resort has finally opened in Shanghai, China with a spectacular three day gala. The resort took five years to build and cost around $5.5 billion to construct the spectacular new theme park. Disney broadcast the grand opening of the theme park on the Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, and was available to watch on each channel's mobile app.

The new theme park required an incredible amount of cooperation between the Chinese and American governments, and is now the third Disney Resort in Asia alongside the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Tokyo Disney Resort. The incredible park comes with features that can only be seen at the resort in Shanghai.

One huge difference between the park in Shanghai compared to the ones in Orlando and California is the princess castle. The castle in Shanghai is easily the largest of all the Disney castles. The new castle is supposed to represent all of the Disney princesses, as to where the one in Orlando for example is the castle from Cinderella.

The new park in Shanghai will feature six differently themed lands: Mickey Avenue, Gardens of Imagination, Fantasyland, Adventure Isle, Treasure Cove, and Tomorrowland. Several of the main attractions at these different locations are variations on current Disney rides such as a new Pirates of the Caribbean ride, Dumbo's Flying Elephant, and Peter Pan's flight. In addition to these new versions of classic Disney rides, there are also some new attractions such as the TRON Lightcycle Power Ride, as well as an Alice In Wonderland themed maze.
