Three classic Pokemon games are coming to the Wii U Virtual Console. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky will be added to the Wii U Virtual Console shop on June 23rd.

The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series was first released in 2005 as a spinoff series for the popular Pokemon video game franchise. Unlike normal Pokemon games, players actually play as a Pokemon as they travel through a series of randomly created dungeons, fighting hostile Pokemon and helping other Pokemon solve various problems. Players can also befriend Pokemon to add them to their dungeon clearing party.

Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team were the first pair of games released in the series, while Explorers of Sky (a remake of Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness) was released four years later in 2009. Red Rescue Team was originally released for the Game Boy Advance, while Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky were originally released for the Nintendo DS.

Currently, Pokemon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire is the only Pokemon related game available to buy for the Wii U Virtual Console. However, Nintendo also teased that additional Pokemon games will be added to the Virtual Console shop over the summer.
