With Ghostbusters just days away from hitting theaters, fans are still divided on whether they're feeling the contemporary reboot. Critics have mirroed those thoughts as their reviews for the film have been mixed so far. And now, it's Kevin Smith's turn to give his definitive word on Ghostbusters as the filmmaker shared his impressions on his podcast, Hollywood Babble-On.

Chatting with Ralph Garman, the two talked up the reboot as Smith had just attended the film's premiere earlier in the day. The star-studded occasion was held in Los Angeles with organizers rolling out a slime-green carpet for the Ghostbusters' cast. Actresses Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, and Kristen Wiig all attended the event, and Kevin Smith decided he'd also stop by the premiere. And, apparently, he really dug the film.

"I enjoyed it, man," he said. "I know there's been this big hubbub, but those people are funny, and they made a funny movie."

The rebooted Ghostbusters film has been notably pressured by intense scrutiny from lots of fans. Many of them felt the updated franchise would ruin their childhood memories of the original Ghostbusters film, and Smith briefly nodded at those disgruntled fans' plight. He explained, "You know, the same people that are unhappy about it [the film] now probably [aren't] going to change their minds...but it's funny."

Smith also took time to recall a sweet moment that he witnessed at the premiere, recounting, "this is the really f***ing sweet thing. Like, this was crazy, dude. There were little kids in my theater dancing, dressed up like Ghostbusters. And singing the song and dancing. But this gets even more tender: They were little girls. So, you're sitting there going, like, 'Oh, there it is, man.' [That's] the power of the flick, and it hadn't even started yet. I don't know if they were dancing after the movie, but before the movie, it was a really beautiful thing to see."

Describing the film as kid-friendly, Smith went on to reveal which star made him literally LOL during the film. He said, "You know who's awesome? Thor...Oh my god, he's so funny in the movie. Like, he's got a gift for comedy. He made me laugh out loud quite a few times. Thor, go figure! God of Thunder, man. God of Chuckles, more like."

When he was asked to give his final opinion of whether fans should go see Ghostbusters or not, Smith hedged a bit by ending the conversation with these final words. "Well, I'll put it like this: Answer the call," he said. "If you're feeling the call, answer the call."
