Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson joined Good Morning America and told host Michael Strahan during an interview that he's open to the idea of running for President of the United States in the future.

The 44-year-old actor was hit with presidential buzz back in March after tweeting an article that claimed the American people were "loudly clamoring" for him to run on the GOP ticket. During the interview with Strahan, Johnson stated that the idea of his future in the political world is "very real."

"This interesting ground swell that has happened on the idea of my being president one day has become a legit thing to some people," Johnson explained. He also stated that he would listen to the "temperature of the American" people, and would serve if the public demand was strong enough.

"If it is a very real, overwhelming, positive, strong, 'We want you to run for president,' and if I felt that I can step up to the plate and become a tremendous leader for our country and make a real difference and make change, I would do it," he stated.

At the moment, The Rock has been focusing on his acting career. His buddy comedy Central Intelligence with Kevin Hart recently hit theaters, and the second season of his television drama Ballers premieres on July 17 at 10:00 p.m. on HBO.

Johnson portrays a former NFL lineman on Ballers, who is now a financial adviser to NFL players. He felt a particular connection to this role as he was a University of Miami football star before his days as a WWE wrestler.

He commented regarding the HBO role, "One of the greatest things for me personally about the character is I've never played a character who is so close to my heart."

Don't forget to check out season 2 of Ballers on July 17!

If Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson ran for president, would he be getting your vote?
