Neil Gaiman's InterWorld Being Adapted To TV By Hamilton Producers

Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves' young adult novel InterWorld is set to be adapted to television by Universal Cable Productions, with Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and Flody Suarez developing the project.

Interworld is centered on a teenager named Joey Harker who can walk between dimensions. Joey is on a mission to save the entire multiverse by keeping the balance between the forces of science and the forces of magic. Joey becomes part of the InterWorld organization, which he comes to realize is entirely made up of alternate versions of himself. Some of these dimensional duplicates are nearly identical, while others can be wildly different, being of a different age, gender, or species. The one thing they all have in common is the ability to "walk" between dimensions.

Gaiman and Reaves will also serve as executive producers on the InterWorld adaptation. InterWorld is the second Gaiman novel currently making its way to television. American Gods is set to debut on Starz in 2017.

The NBCUniversal owned Universal Cable Productions also has a couple of comic book adaptations in the works, among them Gerard Way's Dark Horse Comics series The Umbrella Academy, with Jeremy Slater as executive producer, and the Top Cow series Bushido. They are also the studio behind USA's Colony and Mr. Robot, as well as much of Syfy's recent slate of scripted television, including The Magicians, Hunters, Childhood's End, Killjoys, and 12 Monkeys.

Hamilton is the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical that has become a national sensation. The musical retells the life of Alexander Hamilton through hip-hop song and dance, and with a cast consisting largely of persons of color.
