You might not have heard of the Cynthiana, Kentucky, but you've probably heard about The Walking Dead. AMC's popular zombie series was first created in the small Kentucky town as the franchise's comic creators Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore hail from Cynthiana. Just recently, an artist completed an impressively huge mural to honor the show, and fans are now flocking to the city just to see the piece of art.

Lex18, in fact, has reported that fans from as far as California have visited Cynthiana to check out the mural. Portuguese artist Sergie Odeith began work on the mural at the end of June, and the giant piece took only 6 days to finish with just 70 cans of paint. The painting excited fans as it clearly features four popular characters from the series: Sheriff Rick Grimes, Carl, Michonne, and Daryl Dixon.

The mural rests on the walls of Cynthiana's local theater, and Trindy's Family Bistro has witnessed the huge amount of traffic heading to the attraction as the restaurant is located right across the street. Co-owner Mindy Tindle told the local news station that, "It's the busiest I've ever seen this town."

The mural was completed ahead of a hometown celebration that aims to honor the city's connection with The Walking Dead. On August 6th, Cynthiana's Walking Dead Day will head underway with a whole host of events, panels, and signings. Both Kirkman and Moore will appear at the festival, and other events such as costume contests, shuttle tours, and silent auctions will fill up the event's packed schedule.

The mural was brought to life in order to honor the undead series, and it seems that The Walking Dead fans are excited to see such a beautiful piece dedicated to their favorite show. Hopefully, fans who are lucky enough to attend the official Walking Dead Day will get to zombie it up and take some photos with the now-famous mural.

Who knows? Perhaps, say, Norman Reedus will take time to bike over to Cynthiana and check out the piece himself? After all, he'll definitely need some places to visit if his reality show Ride with Norman Reedus get renewed.
