Production is rolling along at a steady pace for the eight entry in the Fast & Furious Franchise, and Director F. Gary Gary and actor Vin Diesel took some time out to give fans a recap and announce that the film has just hit the halfway mark.

In the newest set video, the duo shows a few clips of previously seen footage, such as the nicknamed Zombie Cars scene, and a few more shots from their time in Iceland. They then cut to a glimpse of Charlize Theron on set, as well as give a preview of Jason Statham's return from Fast & Furious 7.

For fans of the series, the extensive cast of characters won't take away from what fans love the most about the franchise, which has always been its focus on practical effects and an overabundance of fast and stylish cars.

Diesel has been blown away by the work done so far.

"I have to say it is going beyond my expectations. I thought my expectations were huge. It's really remarkable to see everyone with so much desire to make something that honors all the fans that have been so loyal to the franchise for so long."

Fast & Furious 8 sees the return of stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russell, Lucas Black, and Jason Statham, and will also feature the debut of new additions Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren. Eva Mendes is also still rumored to be returning, though it hasn't been officially announced.

Fast & Furious 8 is scheduled to hit theatres on April 14th, 2017.
