Legendary Digital Studios have acquired the rights to adapt the cult hit video game Life is Strange. The adaptation is being developed and produced with Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment. Johnson previously produced the Skulls of the Shogun animated series for Nerdist and is attached to Sony Pictures' upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Life is Strange is an episodic video game about a high school student named Max Caulfield. When Max discovers she has the power to rewind time, she and her friend Chloe Price set out to investigate the disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber, uncovering a dark underbelly to their hometown of Arcadia Bay.

Life is Strange has received several awards, including a BAFTA for best story, a Peabody Award, a Golden Joystick, a Games Awards Games for Impact Awards, and over 75 Game of the Year awards from various industry publications.

"Life is Strange really differs from what people think of gaming," Greg Siegel, Senior VP of Development and Production for Legendary, told The Hollywood reporter. "Because there's such a focus on character, there's an emotional connection to the story that doesn't happen with other games."

Legendary will begin the search for a writer and a director for Life and Stange soon. Legendary Digital Studios is also responsible for the recent reboot of the 1970s series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, as well as the Dead Rising series on Crackle and the film The Thinning.

Life is Strange was developed by Dontnod Entertainment. All five episodes are available on Linux, OX X, Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
