Destiny players are already preparing for the launch of the game's next big expansion, Rise of Iron, and while it brings a myriad of updates and new content, the best addition might just be cosmetic.

Rise of Iron includes a new storyline for the game featuring Lord Saladin, one completely new strike along with several redone fan favorites, a new raid, and the normal list of new weapons, armor, and gameplay tweaks. That's a lot of great content, but Game Director at Bungie Christopher Barrett (@cgbarrett on Twitter) tweeted out some news that will make fans of customization quite happy (via Gamerant).

Wouldn't it be cool if class items were affected by shaders again in Rise of Iron? We thought so too.

Shaders allow you to customize your gear with a variety of colors, and originally class items were included in this. At some point though Bungie stopped allowing those to be tweaked and haven't said anything about if or when they would start becoming customizable once more.

Common thought is that since Destiny Rise of Iron is not coming out on last generation consoles, the feature was able to be added back in. That means you can once again trot out your Guardian in class gear sporting that Green Lantern color scheme you love so much without any further hindrance.

Rise of Iron hits consoles on September 20th.
