Hayley Atwell Would Love To Go Back To Agent Carter At Some Point

Earlier this year, fans of Agent Carter were absolutely heartbroken to hear the show hadn't be green-lighted for a third season. For its duration, Agent Carter had fiercely thrived off a small yet passionate fandom who championed Peggy Carter's sultry wit and no-nonsense attitude. And, if we're being honest, there was probably no greater champion for the heroine than Hayley Atwell. So, really, it's no big surprise to hear the British actress would love to revisit Agent Carter again in the future.

Currently starring in ABC's drama Conviction, Hayley took time to reflect on her time as Peggy during a recent panel. She spoke of the uncertainty that came along with her new gig as both she and fans wondered how it would affect Agent Carter.

"It was unclear if 'Agent Carter' would go ahead," she explained. "We felt by the end of the second season, that it was always one of those much-loved but little kind of places in the world of ABC. It was always very much up in the air."

However, as fans now know, Agent Carter was ultimately passed over for a series renewal. Bummed, Hayley went on to discuss how she had been determined to find a way to shoot both series. "I think they would have figured something out," she said.

For many fans, it's beyond reassuring to know Hayley has yet to give up hope that she'll return to the role someday. Optimistic, she said, "It's still a much loved show for the people involved with the making of it, and we know that the fans, it has a special place in their hearts....I would be very happy to go back to if the opportunity came. I'd love it to be [still on the table]. The great thing about Peggy is she lives a long life. I'm banking on being in my 50s and going, 'Let's see what Peggy's up to.'"

Clearly, it wasn't only the fans who fell in love with Peggy though Agent Carter. No, it seems as if Hayley Atwell also came to know what Peggy's true value was as well.
