Two Batman Movies Take Top Two Spots On Disc Sales Charts

While DC and Marvel hash out their respective superhero universes on the big screen DC's films are also battling it out on the home video front.

Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been holding steady on the NPD VideoScan Disc sales chart (via Comedy Nights With Kapil) at number 1 for a third consecutive week, but in regards to Blu-ray sales, it's a different story.

The animated adaptation of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's The Killing Joke surpassed Batman v Superman on the Blu-Ray Disc-only chart, though when Blu-ray and DVD sales are combined, it sinks back to number 2.

Both films are indicative of DC features these days, courting as much praise as they do criticism. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was lambasted by critics but still managed to make upwards of $872 million dollars. Still, it wasn't the home run that DC and Warner Bros. hoped it would be.

As for The Killing Joke, many were critical of the new story elements added to Barbara Gordon, specifically in her relationship to Batman. Critics cited the first 30 minutes as filler material, while the remaining time was dedicated to the actual Killing Joke material.

Regardless of where you stand, you can't say that the films aren't successful, something the numbers clearly indicate.

Other films that made the list are Mother's Day at #3, The Boss at #4, and Disney's Zootopia at #5. Key and Peele's Keanu enters at #6, with Miracles From Heaven ranking at #7. Allegiant hits at #8, Criminal ranks t #9, and finally, Deadpool rounds out the group at #10.
