Fans of Tite Kubo's manga Bleach now have something to look forward to after their beloved storyline comes to an end.

In Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine (2016, Issue 38), it is revealed that the popular manga is getting the live-action film treatment, and is set for theaters in Japan sometime in 2018. Sota Fukushi (Toshokan Senso, Library Wars, Strobe Edge) will star in the film, which will be directed by Shinsuke Sato (Gantz, Gantz II: Perfect Answer) (via Anime News Network).

The live action take on the series has been rumored for awhile now, but this is the first confirmation of the project, and Shonen Jump had previously teased some big news with the publishing of Bleach's final chapter.

In addition to the manga, Bleach was also adapted to Television in 2004, which churned out 366 episodes that ran until 2012.

It's good news for fans, as the manga series is officially coming to a close after the conclusion of its 74th volume. That ending was announced back in 2013, so while they've had time to prepare, it's still nice to know that the franchise will have some new life very soon. The series has been in production for 15 years now, so it will be interesting to see exactly what the live-action film covers.
