Today is Andrew Garfield's birthday!

In the mid-2000s, Garfield got his start working on stage, winning "Best Newcomer" awards in 2004 and 2006. In 2005, he made his British television debut in the teen drama Sugar Rush, appearing in 5 episodes. In 2007, Garfield appeared in 2 episodes ("Daleks in Manhattan" / "Evolution of the Daleks") of the BBC's Doctor Who. That same year, he made his big screen debut in Lions for Lambs, co-starring with Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, and he starred in the Channel 4 drama Boy A, which earned him the 2008 British Academy Television Award for Best Actor.

In 2010, Garfield garnered attention from American audiences for his supporting role in David Fincher's The Social Network, playing Eduardo Saverin, the co-founder of Facebook who was betrayed by his former friend and business partner, Mark Zuckerberg (portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg).

Two years later, Garfield got live out his childhood dream, playing Spider-Man/Peter Parker in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), which grossed $757.9 million at the worldwide box office. He reprised the role for 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It too grossed over $700 million, but audiences weren't excited about seeing the franchise continue, so Sony partnered up with Marvel Studios, rebooted the franchise once more, and replaced Garfield with Tom Holland.

Since putting the role of Spider-Man behind him, Garfield starred in the independent film 99 Homes and plays the leading role (US Army medic Desmond T. Doss) in Mel Gibson's biographical World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge, which will hit theaters this November.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Garfield turns 33 today. Happy Birthday, Andrew Garfield.
