For the upcoming horror film Rock Paper Dead, Tom Holland (Fright Night, Child's Play) has officially been tapped to direct.

Holland will be joined by a talented team from the horror genre that includes Emmy-nominated special makeup effects artist Vincent Guastini (Requiem for a Dream), co-writer Victor Miller (Friday the 13th), and composer Harry Manfredini (Friday the 13th), according to Deadline. Amy Williams (Mothers and Daughters), Victor Miller, and Kerry Fleming (who co-wrote the project) will be producing Rock Paper Dead and the film will be looking at a 2017 release as production is set to start next month.

Some of writer/director Tom Holland's other credits include Psycho II (writer), directing several Steph King adaptations (Thinner, The Langoliers), and directing several episodes of Tales from the Crypt and Masters of Horror.

Deadline states that the storyline for the film follows "a serial killer, Peter 'The Doll Maker' Harris, who returns to his ancestral family estate after being released from the state's hospital for the criminally insane after twenty years - a 'cured' man." The publication continues, "Once inside the old house, anguished memories from a tortured childhood and visitations from past victims shake Peter's resolve, but it isn't until the lovely young Ashley enters his life that Peter makes a fateful decision - one that rekindles old desires that have always ended in murder."

One of the more intriguing aspects of the upcoming movie is that not only will Vincent Guastini be providing special makeup effects, but his designs will include a line of serial killer inspired masks and dolls from the movie. Guastini's credits include Requiem for a Dream, The Last of the Mohicans, and Saturday Night Live.

Are you looking forward to seeing Tom Holland's forthcoming film Rock Paper Dead?
