The summer was sort of a bummer as far as hit blockbuster movies. Not saying that there weren't any great movies, but most were certainly forgettable the second audiences left the theater. Speaking of forgettable, Warcraft, the big-screen adaptation of the beloved fantasy computer game of the same name, suffered the same fate - but only in the U.S.

While Warcraft (which was quite an expensive spectacle) tanked at the U.S. box office with a total of only 47 million, it soared overseas making 158 million in China alone. We can't really explain why, other than China must really love big CGI productions...

Thrillist caught up with director Duncan Jones and talked with him concerning the film:

"I'm equally proud and furious about Warcraft. I love it. I spent so much time on it. I put all my heart into trying to make it work. Parts of it, I think, work but it also drives me crazy that I wasn't able to push through everything that I knew needed to happen in order to make the film I knew it could be."

It's OK, Duncan - are you forgetting how well your film performed in both European and Chinese markets? Warcraft broke box-office records in China and fellow overseas markets, something that's not so simple to do with Hollywood-based films.

Jones went on to discuss his possible plans for a sequel:

"If there were an opportunity for us to make another film in the Warcraft universe I really feel like we did the hard work in the first movie as far as setting the table. I would love to capitalize on three-and-a-half years of hard work and be able to have some fun in that world now that I've done the hard work. [So] who knows? Maybe I'm just being a masochist."

Because the Chinese box office is expected to trump our own, maybe even by 2017, it's a not a bad idea to release Warcraft 2 there instead of here. Considering the country also has the biggest player base of the original game out of the entire world, it would be a good move for the film franchise. Even though the sequel would only get a certain percentage of the profits, it's still better than nothing. Truth is, after Warcraft bombed in the US, the overseas market is the best bet. So, there's your opportunity, Duncan...
