The protests continue, even on 9/11.

It was the Miami Dolphins pitted against the Seattle Seahawks. But as the national anthem rang out through the stadium, the two teams looked very different. The Seahawks stood shoulder to shoulder, their arms interlinked. Four of the Dolphins players, however, took a knee.

Dolphins Arian Foster, Jelani Jenkins, Kenny Stills, and Michael Thomas kneeled in silent protest – a movement started by 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Without condoning or condemning their actions, the Dolphins released a statement affirming their players' rights.

"We encourage all members of our organization to stand at attention during the national anthem out of respect and appreciation for the freedoms we are afforded as Americans," the Dolphins posted to Twitter. "We also recognize that it's an individual's right to reflect during the anthem in different ways. We respect these liberties and appreciate the sacrifices that everyone has made for our country, especially on this day of remembrance. We hope today's events will continue a respectful and thoughtful dialogue in our community on unity, inclusiveness and togetherness."
