When Netflix recently announced they were pursuing a second season of Stranger Things, it seemed like our dreams (and nightmares) had come true. The thrilling drama left fans stunned as Stranger Things went on to become a global phenomenon. And, now, it looks like filming may have already started on the new season.

Reddit user hollygorock just shared several photos of a familiar set location which indicate filming is underway. The building used as Hawkins Lab on the show has been flooded with crew, trailers, and film equipment as of late. So, naturally, fans are speculating Stranger Things is back to shooting or will be soon.

Of course, fans are excited to see the cult hit stage a comeback. Stranger Things' second season will host nine episodes and take place soon after the events of the premiere season. Set in 1984, the second season will see several familiar faces return such as Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Joyce (Winona Ryder), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo). And, of course, the kids from Stranger Things will also return - well, those who survived the fist season.

Speaking about the new season, creators Matt and Ross Duffer said they contemplated having a prolonged time-skip but ultimately opted to stay chronological. "I think we talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it's a different decade," Ross explained.

"That's something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there's still more story here [in the 1980s], there's still things that are unresolved," he continued.

The brothers also revealed several new characters would be joining the show next season. And, if you're wondering whether Eleven will return to the show, don't expect to get any updates on the character from the Duffers. When asked about the fan-favorite kid, Ross said, "We don't know about Eleven."

As for Barbara 'Barb' Holland, fans will be sad to hear the character probably won't return. After all, if you've seen the show, then you know the lovable character meets a very tragic end.

When asked about Barb's fate on Stranger Things, Matt told IGN that she will not be forgotten. "We'll make sure there's some justice for Barb," he said. "People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn't seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We're just not spending any screen time on it."

"It's not like her parents are like 'Oh Barb left. She died!' Season 1 actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it's a really short period of time. So part of what we want to do with hypothetical Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened."

Currently, there is no release date set for the second season of Stranger Things. The show will return to Netflix sometime in 2017.
