The episode opens with Leonard and Sheldon discussing an Elon Musk theory that the world is just an alien video game. Howard and Raj come into the apartment to tell Sheldon and Leonard about the Air Force wanting to meet about their gyroscope. Leonard and Howard are both concerned about the military declaring their gyroscope classified and confiscating it, but Sheldon seems pretty excited about joining the military complex as "faceless cogs".

Over at the girl's apartment, Penny and Bernadette discuss their husbands' anxiety over their meeting with the military, when Bernadette gets a congratulatory text from a co-worker about her pregancy. Bernadette's upset she's up for a big clinical study, but they might give it to someone else if her company learns she's pregnant. Bernadette leaves to see if her boss knows about the pregnancy, and as soon as she leaves Penny cops to slipping up and blabbing about Bernadette at the office.

Raj suggests that his friends talk to a lawyer, so Howard gives his cousin (who's a tax lawyer) a call. Sheldon, being a know-it-all, starts to grill the lawyer and declares the meeting a waste of time.

The next day, Penny finds Bernadette planning her revenge on a co-worker for blabbing and quickly fesses up. Bernadette gets even madder and throws Penny out of her office.

Leonard tells Sheldon he's not allowed to speak during their meeting with the Air Force colonel. When the colonel arrives, Howard claims that he's the brains of the operation, causing Sheldon to incredulously squeak.

The colonel quickly bonds with Howard as they're both MIT trained engineers and offers to fund their research. The guys are a bit concerned about how the Air Force will use it, but the colonel says it's none of their damn business what the Air Force uses it for, but ensures them that they're not handing them the keys to the "Death Star from Star Trek" (cue more silent outrage from Sheldon). The colonel then claims that his MIT colleagues can get the gyroscope down to a more applicable size in four months, which finally causes Sheldon to speak out and say they'll do it in two months.

Amy comes to visit Bernadette and listens to her vent about Bernadette's fears about her career getting set back because of her pregnancy.

Penny walks into the apartment to Sheldon making lemon bars because Leonard is upset at him. Penny empathizes as Bernadette is still mad at her too, but the two can't really relate to each other's problems.

The next day, Leonard and Howard pack up their lab and talk to Raj about having to work nonstop for the next two months. They then visit their new lab and discover that it has a retinal scanner (which seems to cheer the team up greatly).

Bernadette visits Penny's apartment and apologizes for snapping at her, and says that she threatened to sue if they pulled her off the clinical study.

The episode ends with the guys still playing with the retinal scanner. They pick Howard up upside down, but the retinal scanner still correctly identifies him, which illicit cheers from the gang.
