Next month, fans will finally see Ben Affleck and J.K. Simmons team-up on the big screen - but it definitely won't be because of Batman. The acclaimed actors are headlining The Accountant, a thrilled by Gavin O'Connor. However, the pair did take time during recent press junket to talk DC Comics and talked about their work on Justice League and Affleck's Batman film.

Simmmons said his role reprisal was "another example of getting to be a supporting guy" and a chance to "work with Ben again."

Affleck also commented on the film, saying that he's finnaly learned that "movies are all about the director."

"When you work with a director, you're on his or her ship. You're going in that direction. Your job is to be creative and bring forth your ideas, but to fulfill this person's vision of how they're telling the whole story. You have a silo that you're responsible for in your performance," he said.

Of course, fans know that Zack Snyder is the man helming Justice League. The actors' kind words are no doubt a boost to both the director and fans as critics have panned Synder's last two films, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Simmons, who has pretty much confirmed his appearance on Affleck's Batman movie, told reporters he's "trying to wrap my mind about the whole 'director is god' thing. There might be some of that going on in the future. Wow. What am I in for?"

The pair refused to comment on the status of the Batman film, but sources have indicated the film is about a year and a half out. During the 25th Annual Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes talked about the film's production schedule.

"Ben announced a Batman movie [that] he's going to direct, star, write for - I think it's a year and a half out. So, the strategy worked," he said.

Speaking about the overall DC Entertainment line-up at Warner Bros., Jeff took time to praise Affleck's take on Batman. "The reboot of Batman with Ben Affleck was a big success," he said, referring to fans and their reaction over the actor's work. "He's going to be EP on Justice League and that's helpful to that team."

For now, fans will just have to wait for official word on when Batman will start shooting. Simmons, who wrapped on Justice League last month, told Entertainment Tonight most of his scenes were with Affleck.

"Yeah, mostly with Ben. In this first installment of the Justice League, Commissioner Gordon is not a particularly sizable part. We just kind of introduce him and see a little bit of his interactions with Batman -- and with most of the Justice League."

When the upcoming Batman film flies into theaters, fans can expect to see more of that relationship fleshed out. And, as always, the partnership between Commissioner Gordon and Batman will be tested by all sorts of baddies. Fans learned that Joe Manganiello has been cast as Deathstroke in the Batman flick, so we can definitely anticipate the two facing down the DC assassin at some point.

The Batman solo feature isn't expected before 2018. Justice League will hit theaters on November 16th, 2017.
