It's a running joke when actors in Marvel projects say things like "they have someone in the audience to shoot me if I leak any spoilers". While that is an exaggeration, of course, you would be surprised at the lengths that Marvel will go to in keeping a plot or storyline secret.

Luke Cage actor Mike Colter recently appeared on Conan to talk about his new series and touched on how the safeguarding process has evolved over time.

"Yeah, I mean they had a few little incidents back in the past where actors would like have their script and they would leave it accidentally on like a bench or something at a park, and then someone would find it, and not someone, a marvel-like person would find it, because they follow us, you know that right? They follow us. I'm never alone, ya know, like even now someone in the audience works for Marvel. I'm not sure which one, I'm trying to figure it out, but I think it might be that guy right there."

Since those methods only partially work, they've adopted technology as part of their new plan, and for Colter that meant a lot of fingerprinting and some confirming of his DNA.

"So after awhile they got past that and they started putting them into the computer, so, if you wanted to do something you had to like put your fingerprint on there, you had to put like a little swab of your saliva, you had to put it inside this little thing, you had to send it away. I mean that's what you have to do to get the computer to open up, and then you leave it for 10 seconds, it closes again, and you have to do it all over again, so it's like this whole thing where you have to do all these passwords just to get to your own files."

Luke Cage has received quite a warm welcome since its debut on Netflix, so it appears all that cloak and dagger safeguarding was worth it.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city - forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Luke Cage is available now on Netflix.
