When over 100 Star Trek actors, producers, and directors unite under one cause, you know it is an important one. Recently, a letter was posted to the Trek Against Trump Facebook page that was signed and endorsed by over 100 people who've been involved with Star Trek in either the show or the movies.

The letter makes a very good point about the way in which the world is today. With countless people working against others, discriminating them, or simply just excluding them for no other reason than they are different, the world isn't living up to the vision of the future that Star Trek created.

"Star Trek has always offered a positive vision of the future, a vision of hope and optimism, and most importantly, a vision of inclusion, where people of all races are accorded equal respect and dignity, where individual beliefs and lifestyles are respected so long as they pose no threat to others," the letter begins.

To help combat against this ill thinking and negative outlook on the future, the actors, directors, and producers of the Star Trek franchise are encouraging fans to go out and vote during the upcoming election. But, the letter emphasizes that people shouldn't just vote for anyone.

"We cannot turn our backs on what is happening in the upcoming election. Never has there been a presidential candidate who stands in such complete opposition to the ideals of the Star Trek universe as Donald Trump," the letter continues. "His election would take this country backward, perhaps disastrously."

Those that signed the letter, including JJ Abrams, George Takei, Wil Wheaton, Simon Pegg, and Chris Pine, are encouraging fans to vote for Hillary Clinton, because in the 2016 political race, she is the one who can help to create a better future for generations to come.

What the letter does better than encouraging fans to vote for Clinton is that it tells fans that voting is vital to the future. Even though many believe that the system is broken, or that they don't like either candidate, this letter encourages those who will not vote out of protest, to vote anyway.

"If, as some say, the government is broken, a protest vote will not fix it," it reads.

So, no matter who you, as a fan, choose to vote for, remember that last part. Voting is the only way to make progress, and making important progress is the only way to invest in a prosperous future.
