Khoi Pham To Draw Teen Titans For DC Rebirth

As JonBoy Meyers departs after only a couple of issues on DC's Teen Titans, the best-selling series that features Damian Wayne whipping a number of DC's young heroes into shape will have to replace the artist, who brought a bombastic, energetic look to the recent DC Rebirth launch.

Talking with series writer Ben Percy at the DC booth today during New York Comic Con, ComicBook.com has learned that his replacement will be fan-favorite artist Koy Pham.

Meyers recently posted to social media that he had to depart the book due to creative differences, but Percy had praise for the artist's opening salvo during our conversation this afternoon.

"Jonboy did a great job setting us up with those first two issues, and now we have Khoi Pham jumping on board," Percy told ComicBook.com. "This guy is off the hook. He's not only pumping out page after page after page like a machine, but so much kinetic energy in the work he's done for us so far. He also feels like McKone. He feels like Tony Daniel. He feels like he's channelling that aesthetic."

"Issue #1 of the ongoing will be my final issue for the series. Due to creative differences, I've decided to move onto other projects," Meyers had posted to Facebook. "And just to be clear, I left on my own, so there's no hard feelings or ill will. It's comics; not everything is magical – just the characters."

DC's Rebirth series haven't had a lot of creative shakeups thus far -- this is certainly the first high-profile one -- but that's aided by the fact that many of the series are twice-monthly and have art teams who trade off issues, installments, or storylines. This gives a bit of flexibility to the shifting needs of the book, editorial whim, artist schedules, and other variables that might have led to more visible breakups in the past.

Pham is best known for his work on the X-Men and Spider-Man families of comics at Marvel. He's also done some work for Valiant and WildSTorm, but Teen Titans represents his first ongoing work with DC.

Teen Titans #2, written by Percy and featuring art by Pham, will hit the stands on November 9.
