This Sunday, AMC will finally debut the long-awaited seventh season of The Walking Dead. Fans have been looking forward to the series' return after last season ended with a shockingly violent cliffhanger. To bide time, fans turned to the network's Fear The Walking Dead series earlier this summer. And, now, AMC has released the first part of a 16-episode miniseries called Passage for the spin-off.

So far, there's only been one episode of the webs series released. The video can be viewed over on AMC's official website and is obviously much shorter than a full-length episode of Fear The Walking Dead. If you want to check out the synopsis for Passage, then you can read it below:

"A fearsome survivor agrees to help an injured woman in exchange for an apocalyptic sanctuary. A new installment of the 16-part series is available every week on amc.com, the AMC mobile apps, and on-air during premiere episodes of The Walking Dead."

Of course, this isn't the first miniseries that AMC has spun-out for Fear The Walking Dead. Before the second season aired, the network created a web show called Flight 462 which takes place at some point during Fear The Walking Dead. The show follows the passenger of Flight 462 during the earliest moments of the zombie outbreak. Written by L. Signorino and Mike Zunic, the series shows how the passengers react when they learn one of their fellow travelers has already been infected.

As for as Passage is concerned, the new miniseries will debut a new episode each week. The first has been released shortly before the seventh season of The Walking Dead makes its way to primetime on October 23. Fans should pay close attention to the characters which debut in Passage. After all, it wouldn't be a big shocker if one of them were to appear in the third season of Fear The Walking Dead when it premieres next year. The spin-off will begin filming this December and return next April.

In the coming months, fans will have lots to see from The Walking Dead franchise. Both Passage and the main series will keep fans on their toes for the foreseeable future. And, just yesterday, AMC sent fans into a tizzy when they confirmed there would be an eighth season of The Walking Dead.

If you haven't already, you should check out ComicBook.com's recap of the second season finale for Fear The Walking Dead. It'll be a great chance for you to refresh yourself on what all happened in the final thrilling episode before you jump into Passage.

The Walking Dead returns for its seventh season on Sunday, October 23 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
