It's been a great year for Disney. The massive studio has rolled out several blockbusters this year, leaving Disney to rake in all kinds of cash. And, just this weekend, the company broke records when its total international grosses for 2016 tipped over $3.566 billion.

Unsurprisingly, the last record was held by Disney to the tune of $3.565 billion last year. The studio was able to outdo itself this year with hits like Zootopia, Finding Dory, and Captain America: Civil War. Other films such as The Jungle Book also helped boost the company's oversea success.

In fact, those three bank-breaking films now rank within the Top 12 Highest-Grossing Disney films of all time in the domestic market. Finding Dory comes in at number three with over $485 million while Civil War ranks at eighth with $408 million. Zootopia rounds out the twelfth spot with $341 million.

Earlier this summer, Disney also set a record for reaching the $3 billion threshold faster than any other studio. They continued to set international box office records for their speedy approaches to $5 billion. Each of Disney's big three films in 2016 so far have each raked in more than $1 billion internationally.

And, what's more, Disney still has more blockbusters to debut this year. Doctor Strange will roll out internationally later this month before hitting U.S. cinemas in November. Moana will also open in November before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuts in mid-December.

Clearly, the company's bursting box office earnings are a trend. Disney enjoyed huge grosses last year and even premiered their most lucrative film of all-time with Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. The film earned more than $2 billion internationally. The company's second highest grossing film is Marvel's The Avengers while its sequel sits as the company's fourth highest grossing project.

Beyond Disney, other studios have also churned out some very successful films this year. Universal's Secret Life of Pets did well domestically while Warner Brothers' releases of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad also raked in plenty of pretty pennies.
