Paige And Alberto Del Rio To Be Heavily Featured On WWE's Total Divas

WWE is never one to let a potential storyline drift off into the ether. Well, unless you're talking about the WCW invasion storyline, which in that case they certainly did due to pride and being a bit cheap. Past mistakes aside, the company isn't letting the current splintered relationship between themselves and WWE superstar Paige keep them from featuring her romance with Alberto Del Rio on their reality show Total Divas.

For a relationship that has reportedly been so controversial backstage, it is odd to find them switching gears so sharply, especially now that Del Rio is no longer with the company, which he departed for the second time earlier this year. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, sources close to the production of Total Divas have said that Paige is featured in every one of the recently finished episodes, and does talk considerably about Del Rio.

That's not really a surprise, as anyone who follows Paige on Twitter knows she doesn't shy away from posting photos of the two on a frequent basis. What is a surprise is that Del Rio did actually shoot some footage as part of the show, but it's not known how much will be in there once the season is completed.

Fans were worried that due to the fractured relationship between Paige and WWE, she might be eliminated from the show altogether. According to those same sources, the reason Paige wasn't a part of the season 6 Total Divas promotional trailers was due to her injury, as she states she was at the doctor during filming.

This isn't the first time WWE has turned real backstage drama into a storyline, and it seems they figure if it's going to happen anyway they might as well benefit from it. Whether that continues to be the case is anyone's guess, as tempers are still high in Paige's camp about how WWE has treated her, specifically in regards to her injuries and the fact that WWE said she didn't need surgery at all.

Paige recently underwent successful back and neck surgery, and now has three screws in her neck. Suffice it to say that WWE was clearly wrong in their assessment, and it will be interesting to see how the two sides progress going forward.

While it might be awhile before fans see Paige in a WWE ring, at least they can see her on Total Divas. It looks like that will just have to be enough for now.
