10 Gruesome Kills On The Walking Dead
Sunday night's episode of The Walking Dead saw more than it's share of death, though in this case [...]
Abe And Glenn
To start things off, let's look at the most recent victims of AMC's hit show, as those are easies to recall. The season six finale left fans with a momentous cliffhanger ending, one that fans of the book recognized quite well.
In the books, Negan kills fan favorite Glenn, bludgeoning him with his barbed wire bat Lucille. The scene is iconic in the comics, resulting in a prolonged death where Glen, who's face is bleeding profusely with his eye bulging out of its socket, calls out for Maggie before Lucille comes down on his head once more time, and another, and another.
Many had guessed Kirkman and company would recreate that scene, finally killing their beloved character, but one death wasn't enough, and instead they killed another character to bolster the damage. Before Glenn is killed, Negan takes Lucille to Abraham's head, and by the end of things, it's nothing but a pile of mutilated brains and flesh.
Yeah, way to kick things off right?
prevnextNoah
Noah wasn't around as long as other members of the group, but in a short time, he managed to make a significant impression. He helped Beth survive during her capture and eventually helped Rick and his team infiltrate their headquarters to get her out, though that didn't turn out quite like they had hoped.
He became a capable member of the team, until episode 14, where he got caught in a rotating door courtesy of a panicking Nicholas. Glen was able to get to the other side, but the mass of zombies kept the door from rotating, trapping Noah on the other side with a horde.
What followed was one of the most graphic deaths in the show's history, even equalling Glenn's recent death.
prevnextOtis
Back in season 2, Shane was just entering his completely crazy phase, and in a truly screwed up moment (of which he had many), took the unnecessary life of his running mate, Otis.
The two were on a resource gathering mission, and Otis hurt himself during their run. A horde of zombies gave chase to them, and rather than help him get to safety, Shane said "I'm sorry" and shot Otis in the leg, knocking him down in hopes of creating a distraction for the rest of the zombies so he could get away.
Otis didn't go lying down, though, and proceeded to scratch and claw at Shane, and even grabbed his hair. Shane punched him time and time again, and ultimately had to tear a piece of his hair out to get him to let go. He then left him in the middle of the street, where the zombies tore his torso out and mauled his arms, allowing Shane to escape.
prevnextAmy
Andrea's sister Amy was a fixture of Shane and Dale's group early on. While the two were about 12 years apart, their time in the zombie apocalypse managed to strengthen their bond.
While some deaths occur out in the field or in looking for resources, Amy died in their own camp from a zombie horde ambush, where zombies overwhelmed her and littered her neck and back with bites.
Andrea stayed with her sister all through the night until she turned, and then put a bullet in he head, saying "I'm here now, Amy. I love you."
prevnextCaesar Martinez
Caesar Martinez was one of The Governor's right-hand men but ultimately learned that when it comes to people like The Governor, you always have to brace for the eventual knife in your back.
After the fall of Woodbury, The Governor finds himself alone and making adjustments on the fly, and even finds someone to care about during his time away. He stumbles upon a new camp, led by his former soldier Martinez. He's firmly in charge, and the place is rather peaceful, but control isn't something The Governor likes to give up without a fight.
After biding his time, he clubs Martinez on the back of the head, drags him out to a zombie pit, throws Martinez into it, taking the camp for himself.
prevnextDale
Ah, Dale, the lovable and wise elder statesman of the group. You always knew he would eventually kick the bucket, but the way he died seemed so unjust for someone so well liked.
Dale wasn't in a giant fight with a horde of zombies and didn't' even throw down with Shane like many expected him to. Dale died in part because of a zombie Carl antagonized simply for the sake of doing so. He got free and made his way to the camp. When Dale went to investigate a dead cow in the fields surrounding the camp, he turned around to find that same zombie, which immediately attacked him.
Dale wasn't bitten by the zombie, but during the altercation, the zombie managed to tear open his stomach, and eventually died from bleeding out. Seeing Dale's guts all over the field just wasn't the end note you wanted for the character, but then again it seems none of these characters are in peaceful deaths.
prevnextT-Dog
Of all the deaths on this list, T-Dog went out in the best way, if that is possible in the world of The Walking Dead.
During season 3, while the group was attempting to hold the prison, a zombie horde gets within the prison's walls. When T-Do attempts to secure the gate, he is bitten on the shoulder, but he doesn't go down.
T-Dog and Carol are pinned down and are running out of ammo. Without a second thought, T-Dog sacrifices himself to let Carol escape, and is quickly swarmed. While he suffered in the short term, it's one of the most honorable deaths thus far.
prevnextJessie, Ron, And Sam
There are those who are always hard on Carl Grimes, and rightfully so. Still, those people should always factor in that there is someone in the cannon much more annoying than Carl, and his name is Sam.
Jessie and her sons Ron and Sam were traveling with the rest of the Alexandria citizens amongst the swatch of zombies, attempting to remain cloaked with clothes covered in zombie's guts. Sam, who has been rather obnoxious up to this point, freezes in terror for no real reason and stands there in the middle of the horde. He starts to cry, which then attracts the dead around them. Jessie won't let go of his hand, and the group is trying to quiet him and get him to move.
Unfortunately, that doesn't work out, and the zombies swarm on Sam with his mother still holding his hand. Rick tries to get her to let him go, but can't move her, and she is ultimately swarmed as well. Ron fires a shot before he is too swarmed, which hits Carl in the eye.
prevnextThe Saviors
Negan's fuse was first lit back when Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham first ran into one of his Savior scouting parties, but the phrase "you started it" does come to mind.
When a gang on bikes stops the group in demands all their supplies of else, Darryl chose the "for else" option, opting to incinerate them with a close range RPG blast. The good news was they didn't have to give up their supplies, but the bad news was they unknowingly started a war with Negan, a war they would later regret.
prevnextAiden
If you needed a perfect summation of what was wrong with Alexandria before Rick and his group got there, all you need is a picture of Aiden.
In season 5, the group goes on a run for supplies, teaming up Rick's more accomplished recruits with Alexandria's "capable" scouts, but the word capable is used rather loosely. Aiden ends up spiked and trapped, and his longtime partner opts to flee instead of help him, leaving only Glenn to try and get him out. He can't do it in time though, and has to leave him there to be devoured by a swarm of the undead.
