Another key piece of Planet Hulk has been confirmed for the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, and while he might start out small in size, he certainly has a big impact on the storyline.

At least he does in the comics. During a recent Facebook Live, which commemorated the wrapping of filming for Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi sat alongside Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. They talked about the ebb and flow of filming and how much fun they had on set, but in the midst of all that there was an easily missed but rather important confirmation (via Slashfilm).

Waititi takes the phone and travels around the set for an impromptu tour, and at one point comes to one particular actor. He says "This is Steve. Steve is playing a character called Miek."

In the comics, Miek starts off as a rather weak insect-like creature that becomes part of Hulk's Warbound, a group he assembles after his time in the arena on planet Sakarr. Over time Miek becomes an essential part of the group, as he undergoes various metamorphosis along the way. We already knew that the upcoming sequel is attempting to blend the Ragnarok and Planet Hulk storylines from the comics into one narrative, and Miek could play a big part in that development.

In the comics, the Illuminati send Hulk away to another planet, as they decide he is too dangerous to keep on earth. Unfortunately for Hulk, he doesn't end up on the planet they meant to send him to, and ends up instead on a planet ruled by a tyrannical dictator named The Red King and has to battle for survival in his arena. Hulk and his Warbound manage to finally overthrow him, and Hulk even finds a wife, the beautiful Caiera, but it all comes crumbling down after the ship he was sent in explodes, killing Caiera and wiping out most of the planet in the process.

This sends Hulk into a rage, and results in the World War Hulk storyline, as he blames the Illuminati for taking his peace away from him. It turns out though that Miek was the culprit, as he was unhappy with the peaceful existence King Hulk had managed to realize.

The actor is seen in non-insect garb, though, so it remains to be seen if that is the tact they will take with the character. Either way, it should be interesting to see what Waititi comes up with.

Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Idris Elba 9Heimdall), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Cate Blanchett (Hela), Karl Urban (Skurge), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Sam Neill, Ray Stevenson (Volstagg), and Tadanobu Asano (Hogun).

Thor: Ragnarok lands in theaters on November 3, 2017.
