Get ready to sing your hearts out. Three news television spots of Sing have been released, and they will definitely make fans want to rush their nearest karaoke bar.
The first promo clip introduces fans to the all the film’s leads. Characters such as Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey), Rosita (Reese Witherspoon), Ash (Scarlett Johansson), Gunter (Nick Kroll), and Johnny (Taron Egerton) can be seen. Many of these characters show off their (usually) lovely voices as they audition for what’s being called the world’s best singing competition.
The second video focuses particularly on Rosita, an overwhelmed housewife with 25 children. While she has always dreamt of singing, the poor pig has never gotten the chance to show off her vocal range until a massive singing competition comes to her town. And, finally, the third clip highlights Rosita's partner Gunter, a rather ostentatious figure who lights glittery bodysuits and boasts a European accent.
If you aren’t familiar with Sing, then you might be a bit confused about who these characters are. You can check out the film’s synopsis below:
“Dapper Koala Buster Moon presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. An eternal optimist, and a bit of a scoundrel, he loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Facing the crumbling of his life's ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world's greatest singing competition. Five contestants emerge: a mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine.”
Produced by Illumination Entertainment, Sing is directed and written by Garth Jennings. Cristophe Lourdelet will co-direct. Given its musical roots, Sing will feature more than 85 classic songs from familiar artists and even boast a new track from Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande.
Sing is slated to hit theaters on December 21, 2016.
