Marvel's Inhumans Movie Could Happen in MCU Phase 4

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to unfold, one of the role of The Inhumans has become one of the biggest questions about it. As longtime bit players in the Marvel Comics Universe, The Inhumans have come into prominence as the 2010s have unfolded, and have recently been floated as the Marvel Comics replacement for the X-Men and mutants. Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Inhumans are the only substitutes for mutants, as Marvel Studios can't use any of the X-Men or even the term "mutants," as both are owned by Fox.

Oddly enough though, after Marvel originally scheduled The Inhumans movie for release in Phase 3, the studio revised its plans, taking Inhumans off the slate entirely, while Agents of SHIELD was used as the avenue by which to introduce the Inhuman characters and the unpredictable powers caused by their Terrigen Mists. With Inhuman characters like Quake taking center stage now in the MCU, fans haven't been too hopeful about seeing The Inhumans movie happen. But according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, it could still be in the works.

Marvel's Inhumans Movie Phase 4

Speaking to /Film, Feige said, "I think Inhumans will happen for sure. I don't know when. I think it's happening on television. And I think as we get into Phase 4 as I've always said, it could happen as a movie. I think it would be super cool."

Phase 4 of the MCU is still a big mystery - and that's not at all a bad thing. Even with all the surprises we've gotten, fans have pretty much known that the road map to Phases 1 - 3 led up to the big Infinity War with Thanos; but after that, there's little certainty about who will be left alive, who will still be serving as an Avenger, and what new threats may appear. Feige also recently said Phase 4 will include "unexpected team-ups," which sounds fun to us.

Indeed, the entire size and scope of the MCU could be vastly different by the time both Avengers: Infinity War movies have come out. The Inhuman royal family and their Shakespearian drama could be fun to see play out - and since the X-Men won't be joining the MCU anytime soon, having the Inumans replace them as the world's 'hated and feared' superpowered aberrations would be prudent move on Marvel's part.
