Leave it to AMG Entertainment to make all of our dreams come true. If you are a fan of the mobile app Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector, then you should be looking forward to 2017. The company is poised to adapt the wildly popular mobile app into a live-action film.

AMG Entertainment confirmed they were developing a live-action Neko Atsume film earlier this week. The game will be loosely based off Hit-Point's app which recently broke 19 million downloads. Director Masatoshi Kurakata will helm the film while Atsushi Itou stars as the film's protagonist. Japan's MediAnd will be producing the project.

Neko Atsume will tell the story of Sakumoto, a young novelist who won a new writer's award several years back. The once award-winning author has fallen into a writing slump as of late, and he decided to cure his blockage by moving into a tranquil, new pad. However, the location does little to sooth Sakumoto's problem - but that all begins to change after he meets an adorable cat while perusing his garden.

If you are surprised by this film announcement, you shouldn't be. After all, Japan harbors an intense love for the addictive game. Late last year, Google and Hit-Point even teamed up to create a live video event called Real Neko Atsume which broadcasted videos of lookalike kittens to cat cafes in Osaka.

For those of you unfamiliar with Neko Atsume, you might want to check the fun app out. The game is a simple one which asks players to collect more than 50 in-game cats through various means. The free app is endless with its gameplay as gamers continually work to attract more and more cats to their garden hangouts.

The simple game is an easy one to enjoy, and it looks like fans of Neko Atsume will soon be able to see their gaming obsession brought to the big screen.

Neko Atsume is not the only mobile app getting the Hollywood treatment as of late. Earlier this fall, CBS announced they were adapting King's Candy Crush into a gameshow.

"We are huge fans of 'Candy Crush' and, like so many others, we know the 'rush' of advancing to the next level of the game," said CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller. "We're excited to work with Lionsgate and King to adapt one of the world's most popular and entertaining game franchises for television and make it available to its massive, passionate fan base who can watch and play along at home."

"We instantly knew it would make an incredibly visual, physical and fun TV program," said Lionsgate TV chief Kevin Beggs. "We're very happy to have Matt shepherding the production as we partner with the team at King on this series with the tremendous second-screen potential."
