Spoilers below! If you have not seen Fantastic Beasts, then you probably want to turn away now! You have been warned!

For those of you who have already seen Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, then you might be wondering where the franchise will go next. The blockbuster left off with a dark wizard in jail and Newt Scamander leaves the U.S. to finish his magizoology text elsewhere. Fans already know that Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald will becoming increasingly important to the series as it moves forward, but audiences were left wondering how when Fantastic Beasts ended.

But, now, there's one Harry Potter fan-theory that connects Fantastic Beasts to JK Rowling's original story.

The folks over at ScreenCrush conjured up the intense theory after speaking with Jack Bird from the Harry Potter Alliance. The latter spoke with the site about an easter egg and fan-theory which foreshadow the future of Fantastic Beasts. So, prepare to have your wands snapped and minds blown.

The fan-theory is centered around the presence of an Obscurus. If you are not totally familiar with the term, it is one that Newt introduces in Fantastic Beasts. An Obscurus is an entity of dark magic which gets created when young children suppress their magic. However, the Obscurus will eventually kill the child who hosts it. Newt has one of these beasts in his collection, and he's on the search for another one that's plaguing New York City.

However, it doesn't look like this term was actual introduced in the Fantastic Beasts film. The Harry Potter universe has been hinting at the dangerous existence of Obscurials for years now - and one of them is like Ariana Dumbledore, Albus' sister.

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, fans learned that Ariana kept herself hidden away from the world because she could not control her magic. A passage from the novel said the girl's magic "turned inward and drove her mad, it exploded out of her when she couldn't control it and at times she was strange and dangerous."

Well, that sounds familiar; We're looking at you, Creedence.

Jackson went on to prove that the word Obscurus existed in the Harry Potter universe prior to the new film's release. The fan pointed out that Rowling's novella of Fantastic Beasts was fictionally published by Obscurus Books according to its title page. If the book is published by the company, then you can bet Newt did so for a certain reason; In the film, the wizard is still working on his textbook.

But, in the long term, the presence of the Obscurus has bigger ramifications on the Fantastic Beasts and its Harry Potter connection. When the film takes place, Ariana has already passed away, but Grindelwald had ample opportunity to see her dark magic up close. In the movie, Grindelwald seems particularly interested harnessing the power of Obscurus beasts to aid his revolution - and Dumbledore seems keen on preventing it. The next Fantastic Beasts movies could follow Grindelwald as he tries to amass those beasts' power while Newt and his mentor attempt to stop him.

And, if rumors are true, then it doesn't look like Creedence actually died after his Obscurus was destroyed. So, fans should expect to see his character pop back up and likely side with Grindelwald's cause.
