Other than a few snarky comments here and there, CM Punk has kept to himself mostly after his loss to Mickey Gall at UFC 203. Fans have wondered what's next for the popular superstar, and that announcement might be coming soon.

In an interview with The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Punk addressed his absence and revealed that he has been in discussions with Dana White about a possible return (via WhatCulture).

"That's up to Dana. I had a good conversation with him. I told him 'hey, if you want to cut me, I get it. But I'm fighting, whether it's for you or somebody else.' Now, I don't have an agent, I don't have a manager, I'm like Bill Murray, just with a lot less money and not as funny or as famous. But I told him I want to fight again. We're back at it, we're back to the drawing board. It's up to him. He floated me an idea and we're kinda going back and forth on it right now. I'm at the point where I kind of want to get something on paper. You might hear an announcement in the coming weeks, I really don't know. There's no timetable on it. ... I'm pretty confident (my next fight) will be in the UFC."

After the fight, Punk said he wasn't giving up and was very hopeful to get back into the ring. These comments are right in line with that, and as for Dana, he's rarely going to let a profit opportunity pass him by without at least exploring it. It's easy to see the potential here, as fans have now seen Punk hit the floor, and it will be up to him to show how quickly he can get back up.

The issue then becomes who he would face. A possible choice of Mike Jackson has popped up, who Mickey Gall defeated in the lead up to his fight with Punk, but nothing is set in stone. The options are a bit limited, as anyone near Gall's experience is going to be a problem for Punk this early in his fighting career.

There are some who hoped that the loss would propel him back to the WWE, but it's going to take a lot more than that to solidify that relationship again.
