Hundreds of comic book characters are being portrayed in film and television, and with each new day more are being announced.

Major Issues -- a ComicBook.com original video series -- will speak to true comic book hobbyists as well as new fans in a short, fast-paced digital series featuring the first appearances of characters we all love. Each episode will feature the actual comic book, info on the creators, and the backstory on the creation and legacy of the character.

The first is our look at the introduction of the recurring Batman group of villains, the Court of Owls.

This is the history of the Gotham underworld from Wikia.com: The Court of Owls is an ancient conspiracy that has controlled Gotham City for centuries. They are a violent cabal who use architecture and murder to wield political influence throughout history. Their legend is told only through whispers and a nursery rhyme that bears their name. To carry out their interests, they employ a breed of highly-trained assassins known as Talons. The leaders of the organization appear to be human and wear owl masks on their faces. The rest of the court, on the other hand, are mutated and appear to actually be human/owl hybrids. Their owl-like distorted faces, long claws, and their eating style prove this.

Origininally published in December of 2011 and rated PG, after Bruce Wayne is thrown out of the Old Wayne Tower window, he lands on gargoyle that adorns the building. His assailant continues to plummet until he hits a car. Behind the car walks a person wearing a purple cloak, later revealed to be Pandora. She first appeared in Flashpoint No. 5 and made similar cameos in all No. 1 of the New 52. The initial release was titled, "The Court of Owls, Part Two: Trust Fall." It is now available for bid on Amazon (in varying conditions).
