Mycroft, Sherlock, And The Other Brother
Last season, fans were stunned when Sherlock's elder brother made a rather curious comment to the detective in "His Last Vow." The Season 3 finale featured Mycroft uttering a now-famous line when he told Sherlock, "Don't be absurd, I am not given to outbursts of brotherly compassion. You know what happened to the other one."
Fans were quick to catch onto Mycroft's last words and immediately began questioning whether there was once a third Holmes brother. The fourth season of Sherlock would be a perfect place to explore that intriguing note, so fans are hoping they will get some clarification on the aside comment.
Moriarty's Legacy
When the third season of Sherlock ended, fans were left gaping at the massive cliffhanger they had been left to dangle upon. The thrilling finale saw Sherlock Holmes exiled from the United Kingdom after he shot one of his enemies, Charles Augustus Magnussen. However, he was almost immediately brought back when a startling sight was aired on British airways.
Televisions all over the country were hacked and prompted to air a disturbing video of a familiar villain. Even in death, Moriarty was able to haunt the Holmes brothers when footage of him cheekily asking, "Did you miss me?" terrorized the entire country. The ensuing holiday special saw Sherlock learn that Moriarty had truly died when he killed himself back in the second season, but he is far from gone; The madman still proves to be a threat even from the grave - and fans want to see more of him in the fourth season.
John Watson & Mary Morstan's Reconciliation
Mary Morstan is not a woman to be trifled with. The kind-hearted character is the glowing wife of Dr. John Watson, and the third season of Sherlock left her pregnant with the couple's first child. However, it also left her more than a little shaken after Sherlock and Watson discovered her dark past, and fans want to see her reconcile with her husband next season.
Fans know the couple will have already had their baby girl when the fourth season debuts, so they are curious to see how the bundle of joy will affect Mary's marriage with Watson. The good doctor can be a bit grumpy, but he seems to melt when it comes to the women he loves.
Molly Happy With Detective Lestrade
It's been a long time coming, but fans are still wondering when exactly Molly Hooper is going to get her happily ever after. The witty yet awkward pathologist has been in dire straits when it comes to love, but things may be looking up for the girl.
Sherlock's second season hinted that Detective Greg Lestrade had a thing for Molly in "A Scandal in Belgravia." The blushing officer was seen eyeing the scientist when she strutted into a Christmas party, so fans want to see Greg make a move already.
Sherlock Holmes Babysitting Watson Jr.
If there was one thing Sherlock Holmes would not want to do, it is babysitting. So, of course, fans want to see him do just that. When the fourth season of Sherlock debuts, the consulting detective is going to have his hands full with a brand-new villain and baby to boot. Since Watson is his partner, there is no way Sherlock will get far without having to care for Watson Jr. while her parents are away, and the hilarious ordeal sounds too good for fans not to want.
You have to admit: It would be rather hilarious to watch Sherlock 'Highly-Fuctioning-Sociopath' Holmes try and deduce what exactly a baby wants when it starts wailing at 2:00 a.m.
