If you are a fan of Blue Exorcist, then you will no doubt be happy to know the anime series is making a long-awaited comeback. The show debuted back in April 2011 to critical praise, and A-1 Pictures has confirmed its second season will air next year after a prolonged hiatus. Now, fans can get their first-look at the upcoming season to see what Rin and Yukio Okumura have been up to thanks to some new promo items.

Earlier this month, the first teasers for BBlue Exorcist's second season dropped in Japan to the excitement of fans. Now, non-regional teasers for the anime have been uploaded by Amniplex, and U.S. fans are understandably freaking out about the gift. The two-minute video shows a slew of familiar characters like Suguro Ryūji, Konekomaru Miwa, Kamiki Izumo, Shima Renzō, and the Okumaru twins.

The trailer also gives fans a look at the show's updated art style and grittier tone. The show is a supernatural thriller, and its second season promises to delve deeper into its occult origins. In fact, Season 2 is set to tell the 'Kyoto Saga' storyline from the original Blue Exorcist manga.

If you are not familiar with the manga, then you should know the 'Kyoto Saga' takes place in the fifth volume of Blue Exorcist. Kazue Katō wrote the story after he revealed Rin's true lineage to his classmates at True Cross Academy. Now that it is known he's the son of Satan, Rin's friends now fear his dark powers, and his teachers go on red-alert when the 'Left Eye of the Impure King' goes missing. Unsure of who to trust, Rin reverts to his lonesome self and tries to prove to himself and others that he is nothing like his demonic father.

You can check out Viz Media's description of the story arc below:

"In the late Edo Period, a demon known as the Impure King killed thousands of people. After defeating the demon, the Knights of the True Cross kept its left eye safely sealed away on Academy grounds - but now someone has stolen it! Hearing the thief has taken a child hostage, Yukio and Rin go to help. The investigation and pursuit will lead Rin and his friends to Kyoto and involve them even deeper in a sinister plot! But will his friends' knowledge that Rin is the son of Satan drive a wedge between them?"

Alongside the videos, A-1 Pictures have also given fans a key visual from the upcoming season of Blue Exorcist. The image shows side profiles of Rin and his fellow classmates in various states of distress, so you can only imagine what kind of trouble they'll get into this next season.

Rin tries to keep his demonic lineage a secret from his classmates and become a powerful Exorcist who can defeat even his all-powerful father.
