Power Ranger fans, this year is shaping up to be a big one for the franchise. Thanks to Saban, a live-action film based on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is set to hit theaters, but that is not all the franchise has in store. Over in Japan, the original Super Sentai series which inspired Power Rangers is getting a massive overhaul with its 41st series. And, now, a new TV spot has revealed what the franchises's newest squad of heroes look like.
And, surprisingly, there are plenty of non-human heroes joining the franchise.
Thanks to TV Asahi, a preview for Uchū Sentai Kyūranger began airing that shows all its heroes in civilian dress. "The fate of the universe lies in the hands of nine ultimate saviors," the video teases. Looking at the preview, fans can see a glimpse of all the characters before the group congregates in a wide shot.
If you want to see the character's more closely, then you are in luck. The show's official site uploaded pictures of all the sentai soldiers, and fans can get a good look at the show's non-human heroes. From a pilot android to a strange robot, there's no end to the far-out characters. There's even a champion robot wrestler joining the team, and that's still not even the strangest addition.
If you are not familiar with the new show, then you can jump into the Super Sentai fandom at any time. The upcoming series will be the franchise's 41st, and it will differ from its predecessors in a few big ways. Uchu Sentai Kyuranger is set to use star signs, constellations, and other means of astrology as inspiration. The new Super Sentai series is set to have nine heroes collected into its superhero squad. The number is a rather daunting one as previous teams have only hosted 3-5 five members initially, but Uchu Sentai Kyuranger is going all-out.
Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
Power Rangers is set to land in theaters on March 24, 2017.
