Coming into the new year, it has been awhile since Fairy Tail fans had heard anything about the franchise's second movie. However, once January burst onto the scene, the folks behind the shonen series unleashed a slew of updates. From a title to release date, news about Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry made a splash into the anime world. And, now, the movie's official website has released a collage of storyboard sketches from the film.

Looking at the drawings, fans can see a lot of familiar characters from the Fairy Tail franchise. Of course, Lucy and Natsu are seen front-and-center in various panels. The top-most picture shows Lucy showing off her toned body in a flimsy bathing suit, and fans can't bring themselves to care whether the show comes courtesy of fantasy sequences of not. In other panels, Lucy and Natsu can be seen together, and there are several which show the dragon slayer mid-battle.

There are other drawings which introduce new characters to fans, and it has audiences on edge about who these people may be. For one, Natsu is seen running around with an adorable puppy with wide eyes. In other obscure panels, fans can see what appears to be a shadowy villain walking forward with a staff while another page shows an older bearded baddie bearing down upon the group.

Earlier this year, the movie's website shared the film's official logo and subtitle to ring in the new year. On the studio's front page, a page was added which confirmed the name of the second movie as Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry. So far, it looks like the film is slated for a Spring 2017 release.

It has been awhile since fans have heard any news about the fabled Fairy Tail movie. Back in May 2015, Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine confirmed the feature was coming. The franchise's first film, Fairy Tail The Movie: Phoenix Princess, debuted back in 2012.
