Tonight on Arrow, Felicity started down a long, dark road toward helping get John Diggle out of custody and back into the world.
Meanwhile, during a recent interview, executive producer Wendy Mericle said that the process of freeing John was going to cost Team Arrow -- and particularly Felicity.
Yeah, Diggle is finally starting to process his guilt over his brother's death in a healthier way, but "He's going to be grappling with a different set of challenges in Felicity," Mericle told Screener. "Part of what kicks her off down this darker path is she's going to find evidence to exonerate him -- and he's going to have to deal with the fallout of the fact that Felicity is now going down a questionable path in part because of him."
Of course, that's not all that's pushing her down the road: Felicity will also be dealing with the death of her boyfriend, Detective Billy Malone, for the rest of the season.
Audiences have already seen, with last week's episode drawing a distinction between Oliver's quest for justice and Felicity's mean-on for revenge -- something we're seeing echoed in the journey of the new Black Canary tonight.
