With horror remakes all the buzz in Hollywood, it wasn't going to be very long until It got a new movie.

The terrifying clown of Stephen King's creation put nightmares in the minds of children and adults alike in 1990, and the new iteration of the franchise is looking to have the same effect.

Some were worried that the recent wave of PG-13 horror films, It would tone itself down to reach a wider audience, and pull in a few extra dollars. According to producer Dan Lin however, that's just not the case.

When speaking to Collider, Lin revealed that the film will definitely stay true to its roots, and earn a R-rating.

"It is a rated-R movie. If you're going to make a 'Rated-R movie', you have to fully embrace what it is, and you have to embrace the source material. It is a scary clown that's trying to kill kids. So of course that's going to be a rated-R movie. The kids are amazing. You very much get a Stand by Me vibe as far as their camaraderie and the way they joke with each other and that they really care for each other. They do have a scary crown that's taken over the town of Derry, so it's going to be rated R."

In addition to the firm rating stance, Lin mentioned that a sequel is already on the plans - so long as the film makes enough money.

Since the story tells the tale of the main characters as adults, after showing them as children, the goal is to roll out a sequel with the adults.

he cast features Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise, Javier Botet as The Leper, Jaeden Lieberher as Bill Denbrough, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben Hanscom, Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Finn Wolfhard as Richie Tozier, Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie Kaspbrak, Chosen Jacobs as Mike Hanlon, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley Uris, Nicholas Hamilton as Henry Bowers, Owen Teague as Patrick Hockstetter, and Logan Thompson as Victor Criss.

IT will hit theaters September 8th, 2017.
