This is the time of mobile games, and it seems like every franchise in the world has at least one game for mobile devices.

Feb. 9, in the 11th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump, it was announced that Bandai Namco Entertainment is developing a new smart phone game based on Tokyo Ghoul. The game is titled Tokyo Ghoul:re Invoke, and is will be based on the original Tokyo Ghoul manga series. It is set to be a tap-combo, role-playing game, and is has no official release date, but is slated for spring. It is going to launch as a free to download game for IOS and Andrioid devices, with in-game purchases.

In the game, players will form teams of their favorite characters to battle in turn-based battles, and tap on icons to initiate attacks. If a player connects multiple together to create a combo, players can fill up a skill gauge to unleash the powers and skills that were first scene in the manga series. There are multiple ways to play including a story mode, which is an rpg following the story of Tokyo Ghoul for the players to experience. This will feature 3D character models, voice acting, and unique character cutscenes.

This isn't the first Tokyo Ghoul smartphone game, there is also a 2015 carnival game which did well with more than seven million downloads. The game essentially lets players explore a 3D map and choose which ghoul or investigator they wanted in their team.

If you are unfamiliar with Tokyo Ghoul, it is a manga series that has spun off widely two popular anime series, as well as an upcoming live-action film adaptation. The story is described by Viz Media below:

Ghouls live among us, the same as normal people in every way - except their craving for human flesh. Shy Ken Kaneki is thrilled to go on a date with the beautiful Rize. But it turns out that she's only interested in his body - eating it, that is. When a morally questionable rescue transforms him into the first half-human half-Ghoul hybrid, Ken is drawn into the dark and violent world of Ghouls, which exists alongside our own.

Tokyo Ghoul:reInvoke is set to release in spring 2017 on IOS and Android in Japan.
