Shawn Michaels Names His Favorite NXT Stars

The legendary Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels might not be actively wrestling anymore, but he still keeps up with what's happening in the promotion that he once headlined.

That includes the sister brand of WWE, NXT, which is run by Michael's former running partner Triple H. Michaels recently spoke to the Orlando Sentinel about a variety of topics, including who some of his favorite NXT performers are at the moment (via WrestlingInc).

"I love the Revival, Roderick Strong, Tye Dillinger. I love Elias Samson – I can't help it, I like the Drifter thing, it stands out to me. I see something in a young guy like Patrick Clark. I think Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano are super-talented from a style standpoint."

All strong choices and one of those picks even appeared at the Royal Rumble when Tye Dillinger ran out at the number 10 spot, much to the delight of the crowd. Michaels also discussed another NXT favorite, current champion Bobby Roode, who Michaels feels has a strong future on the main roster.

"They're doing something really good and special with him, with the whole entrance and presentation and the 'Glorious' thing. He's getting over at a level he's not used to, but once they get behind you like that, when he comes in (to Raw or Smackdown), he could be around for a long time."

Fans will probably see Shinsuke Nakamura jump to the main roster before Roode, but like Samoa Joe, Roode will make his presence felt there sooner or later.

Michaels will be appearing at WrestleCon over the WrestleMania 33 weekend.
