The 'Dengeki Game Festival 2017 & Dengeki Bunko Spring Festival 2017 & Dengeki Comic Festival [...]

The "Dengeki Game Festival 2017 & Dengeki Bunko Spring Festival 2017 & Dengeki Comic Festival 2017" event yesterday had a panel for new work and announcements about anime and manga. There was one important statement that came from Kazuma Miki regarding his work on season 3 of Toaru Majutsu no Virtual-on (A Certain Magical Index). The anime producer and light novel editor addressed fans of the franchise at the panel, and asked them to "please wait a little longer for season 3." At first it wasn't clear what show he was referencing, but he stated later on that he was talking about A Certain Magical Index.

This statement is following buzz around the Internet about the poossible next season because of a tweet that Kazuma made last year. He wrote, "Please understand that this is an unofficial statement. I am always receiving everyone's passionate opinions on this. Index anime [season 3] is plausible, so please wait!".

A Certain Magical Index currently has many adaptations of the original light novel series. There is currently two television seasons, a full length anime film, and multiple manga series. One of the spin off manga, A Certain Scientific Railgun, has also inspired an OVA and two TV anime adaptations.

If you are unfamiliar with A Certain Magical Index, Crunchyroll has a description of the series below,

"Kamijo is a student in Academy City, where people use science to develop supernatural abilities. The guy's got a lot of heart – luckily for a young nun named Index. She's on the run from a sorcery society that covets the astonishing 103,000 volumes of magical knowledge stored in her memory. When Index stumbles into Kamijo's life, she find a faithful friend and protector, and while Kamijo's easily the weakest kid in Academy City, he's got something else going for him: the Imagine Breaker, an unexplainable power stored in his right hand that negates the powers of others."

While you wait patiently for the third season to come, A Certain Magical Index and the A Certain Scientific Railgun OVA are available to stream on Funimation now. It has also been announced that Yen Press will be releasing the original light novel series in English, and Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the A Certain Scientific Railgun manga and the A Certain Scientific Accelerator manga in English as well.
