When it comes to iconic anime hair, Yugi's crazy spiky hair usually comes to mind. So what if you were walking to work and a crowd of people with hair inspired by Yu-Gi-Oh! strut by? This is exactly what happen in Tokyo's Shibuya neighborhood, as an awesome publicity stunt turned gained quite a lot of media attention.

Japan is no stranger to creative advertising and publicity for anime, manga, and video game franchises. This weekend, the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise had a Yu-Gi-Oh! OutBreak event, with ad trucks, posters, set up stages, and huge groups of fans cosplaying as Yugi.

The big event was a part of a big promotional campaign for the new Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links smart phone game. The new commercials for the game's release featured a group of students and teachers all wearing the new legendary hairstyle of Yugi from the series.

Following the lead of the hilarious commercials, the hair takeover took over the streets over the weekend. It led for some hilarious pictures and comments on social media as a crowd of Yugis of all shapes and sizes went walked the streets. The groups "parade" ended at the Event Square, for a promotional event with a booth set up for photos with headsets for people to try on.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is back, not only with the new game advertised creatively this weekend, but also with a new anime series debuting in the Spring this year. The new anime, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, is going to introduce not only new characters to the series, but also a new style of dueling. The series looks to be trying to reach a younger audience, with a more tech-savy way of dueling, featuring virtual reality arenas. But don't worry, the new character does have crazy hair when he duels. We are excited to see what other creative things the Yu-gi-Oh! franchise comes up with!
